Washington Trust

The Washington Trust Company is the oldest community bank in the United States. It was founded in 1800 by local merchants from Rhode Island and Connecticut. It offers a full range of personal and business financial services, including trust and investment management, through its offices in Rhode Island and southeastern Connecticut. The bank is a subsidiary of the publicly owned Washington Trust Bancorp, whose common stock trades on The NASDAQ under the symbol WASH. Washington Trust Bancorp had nearly $2.5 billion in assets in 2006. The Washington Trust Company has offices in the Rhode Island cities of Block Island, Charlestown, Cranston, Narragansett, North Kingstown, Providence, Wyoming, South Kingston, Warwick and Westerly. It has three offices in Mystic, Conn.
