In July.1962, father and i left a 34 foot labstreak yawl on the bottom of Sakonnet Point harbor. Much to the distress of harbor master, we could not be persuaded back aboard. She sank!

This is one of those places that you just have to see to appreciate because mere words does not do it justice.....and the ride out to the point (Rte 77) is just as enjoyable as the point itself....

New Bedford Yacht Club was incorporated by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for supporting athletic activities and yachting. It is a nonprofit organization that serves yachting enthusiasts of all ages through boating and recreational activities.
