Miantonomi Memorial Park, located in Newport, Rhode Island, holds a rich historical significance dating back to the era of the Narragansett Indians. Named after one of the tribe's chiefs, this area served as a lookout for settlers in 1667 and saw fortifications added during the American Revolution.
Acquired by the Stokes family and donated to the City of Newport in 1921, the park features a stone tower established in 1929 as a memorial for World War I. Today, Miantonomi Memorial Park offers visitors a glimpse into the region's past and a beautiful setting for reflection and appreciation of local history.
