Fisherville Brook Wildlife Refuge, located in Exeter, RI, is Audubon's largest public property, offering visitors a diverse range of habitats including fields, beech forests, cedar swamps, ponds, and streams. With five miles of trails, visitors can enjoy hiking, bird watching, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing in the winter months. The refuge is home to a variety of wildlife, including beavers, otters, muskrats, foxes, deer, wood frogs, and a wide array of bird species such as owls, wood ducks, and pileated woodpeckers.
This beautiful refuge also features kettle ponds, formed thousands of years ago by chunks of ice breaking free from the glacier that once covered the area. A historic cemetery adds to the charm of the property. Visitors are reminded to follow the provided directions, as GPS may not always be accurate due to road conditions. Dogs are prohibited on the trails, but portable restrooms are available for visitors' convenience.
