Canonchet Brook Preserve in Hopkinton, Rhode Island is a rugged and rocky landscape that showcases the best examples of colonial and pre-colonial stone work in the state. With five miles of marked trails, visitors can explore steep hills, glacial boulders, rocky outcrops, and swampy lowlands. The preserve is home to a diverse forest of large oaks, tulip poplars, white pines, and a young forest of mixed hardwoods and evergreens. Owned and managed through a partnership between The Nature Conservancy and the Hopkinton Land Trust, Canonchet Brook Preserve is an important part of the largest and healthiest coastal forest between Boston and Washington, DC, providing vital wildlife habitat and contributing to the protection of the Wood-Pawcatuck National Wild and Scenic River system.
