Health Partners is one the Philadelphia area s only health plan that is owned by a partnership of local hospitals and health systems. Founded in 1985 as a nonprofit health plan to serve the area s medical assistance population, the organization has grown into a national model for Medicaid managed care. Health Partners expanded its offerings in 1996 with the introduction of its Medicare Plan, Senior Partners. The company serves more than 155,000 Medicaid and Medicare members throughout southeastern Pennsylvania. It was named an Outstanding Employer by Mature Workers Task Force, and the National Committee for Quality Assurance awarded Health Partners with its highest accreditation status of Excellent.
