Nestor D. Tomycz, MD Nestor D. Tomycz graduated from Harvard College summa cum laude in chemistry in 2001 and obtained his M.D. from Harvard Medical School in 2005. He completed his neurosurgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in 2012 with a one-year inter-residency stereotactic/functional neurosurgery fellowship at Allegheny General Hospital. He joined the faculty at Allegheny General Hospital in 2012 and has focused his practice on chronic pain, deep brain stimulation for movement disorders, peripheral nerve stimulation, cancer pain, and spine. He is currently the Director of Neurosurgical Pain Division and Director of Stereotactic/Functional Neurosurgery at Allegheny General Hospital. He is also Chief of Neurosurgery at St. Clair Hospital in the south hills of Pittsburgh. Dr. Tomycz is actively involved in clinical research involving deep brain stimulation, spinal cord stimulation, dorsal root ganglion stimulation, and spinal fusion. He is currently leading an FDA-approved IDE study of DBS for opioid use disorder as well as a collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University on burst-type DBS for Parkinson’s disease. Dr. Tomycz has published more than 65 peer-reviewed manuscripts and has been active in professional societies including ASSFN, NANS, and ASPN.

Kent, MD Endowed Professorship of General Thoracic Surgery. Dr. Weksler is the System Chief of Thoracic Surgery, Allegheny Health Network, and Chief of the Division of Thoracic Surgery at the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Allegheny General Hospital. Dr. Weksler is a member in many Societies including the American Association for Thoracic Surgery, the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer, and the International Society of Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery, among others. Dr. Weksler’s interests include esophageal cancer, lung cancer, thymomas, diseases of the chest wall, minimally invasive and robotic surgery, and surgical endoscopy. He has published many manuscripts in multiple journals in his areas of interest.
