Established in 1969, the council s Centre Region Parks and Recreation Board works to serves the residents of all ages and offers a variety of recreational opportunities for enriching lives through the use of programs and facilities. Its administration office is responsible for financial and personnel management of agencies, as well as administers regional refuse and recycling and emergency management programs. The Centre Region Council of Governments also manages the Centre Regional Planning Agency, which provides regional and local planning services that include the preparation and maintenance of regional comprehensive plans and conducts planning activities related to sewer, water, land use, open space, recreation, demographics, environmental, community facilities and transportation issues.
