Ukrainian Cathedral Immaculate Conception Rectory

The Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, located in Philadelphia's historic Northern Liberties district, is a stunning example of Byzantine architecture. Built in 1966, the cathedral reflects the rich religious and cultural heritage of the Ukrainian people, with its magnificent limestone and architectural concrete structure, adorned with intricate mosaics and Venetian glass tiles.

Designed by Julian K. Jastremsky, the cathedral features a central dome covered in 22 karat gold fused glass tiles, depicting a mosaic of the Pantocrator Christ. The sanctuary wall showcases mosaics of the Theotokos Birth-Giver of God and the Last Supper, while the iconostas, designed by Chrystyna Dochwat, separates the sanctuary from the nave and is adorned with icons of the Annunciation and the four Evangelists.
