Tangier Holly Run
The Tangier Holly Run is an annual tradition that has been bringing holly and Christmas cheer to the residents of Tangier Island, Virginia since 1966. Over the years, it has evolved into a fundraiser to provide critical services to the elderly and widowed residents of the island, with funds donated by participants supporting the work of the Carlisle Mission Team, a group of church volunteers from Pennsylvania who help build handicap ramps and provide other much-needed services on the island.
This fun fly-out event includes traditions such as Santa flying in, a Christmas church service, and a delicious crab cake lunch. Participants can also contribute to the cause through tax-deductible donations, which go towards building supplies for repairing roofs and installing ramps on the homes of the elderly. The Tangier Holly Run is a heartwarming way to spread Christmas cheer and make a positive impact on the lives of the residents of Tangier Island.
