History

The land for Stony Run Winery possesses a rich history. Original plantings were French American hybrids as well as California clones of vinifera, which weren't well suited for the cooler climate of the native vineyard location. Upon acquisition in 2013, we planted on a section of the estate where elevation and positioning presented warmer temperatures more suitable for viniferas. Due to our foothill microclimates, we have both the warmer temperatures needed to produce exceptional reds as well as the cooler climates to produce exceptional whites. Our reds are planted on the estate?s southern exposure giving them long days of sunlight and warmth. Our whites are nestled in the hills with cooling northern exposure.
