St. Pius X Byzantine Catholic Church, established in June 1954, serves the spiritual needs of Byzantine Catholics in the Pittsburgh Central South Hills area. The church is part of one of the 24 sui juris self-governing churches within the universal Catholic Church, remaining in full communion with the Pope and the Church of Rome.
The Divine Liturgy, largely celebrated in English, was penned by Saint John Chrysostom in the 5th century and emphasizes active participation from both priests and congregants. The current church building, dedicated on May 19, 1974, commemorates the canonization of the parish's patron saint, Saint Pius X.
