Saint Ubaldo Society

The Saint Ubaldo Society in Jessup, Pennsylvania celebrates and preserves the tradition of la Festa dei Ceri, one of the world's oldest and most beloved traditions. This annual festival, brought to the Jessup community in 1909, honors the life and legacy of Sant Ubaldo, the patron saint of Gubbio, Italy, and brings together two towns, two cultures, and two peoples.

Through the second wave of immigration, immigrants from Gubbio built wooden pillars similar to those used during the festival in Gubbio and ran through the streets of Jessup, their new and unfamiliar home. The Saint Ubaldo Society welcomes thousands of visitors each year to experience the excitement and highlights of Saint Ubaldo Day, offering a unique celebration that ties together two communities oceans apart.
