The Riviera Hotel and Casino, which opened on April 20, 1955, was a historic Las Vegas destination known for its iconic entertainment and revolutionary design as one of the first high-rise resorts on the Strip. Over its storied history, it offered a wide array of gaming experiences, dining options, and performances, attracting guests from around the world.
Despite facing numerous financial challenges and changes in ownership throughout its decades of operation, the Riviera persisted as a symbol of nostalgic Las Vegas until its closure in 2015, when it was purchased by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority as part of a larger redevelopment project. Following its closure, the hotel was scheduled for demolition, marking the end of an era for one of the Strip's oldest establishments.
