Since the 80th Anniversary of the Bethlen Home in 2001, we've started to compile a database of names and addresses of persons who once lived at the Children's Home. We held reunions in 2001 and 2003. Volunteers provide friendly visits, sometimes staying with the patient while the caregiver is out of the home. They are good listeners who provide emotional and spiritual support, run errands, read to the patient, pray together, help organize family photos and mementos, watch TV together.

The Oaks at Pleasant Gap, Pa., is an assisted living facility that operates under the Allegheny Lutheran Social Ministries. It features two apartment sizes with fully equipped kitchens, living and dining areas, private baths with safety features, and closet space. Each apartment home offers individually-controlled heating and air conditioning and wall-to-wall carpeting. The Oaks at Pleasant Gaps offers a variety of services, such as interior and exterior maintenance, landscaping, snow and trash removal, dining utilities, cable television, and local telephone services. Additionally, the facility offers weekly housekeeping, scheduled van transportation and wellness checks. The Village at the Oaks also offers independent living in duplex home with two bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen and a two-car garage.
