Raccoon Township Independent Volunteer Fire Department

Established in 1947, the Raccoon Township Volunteer Fire Department offers fire protection services through a fleet of pumpers and a brush truck and tanker. It also provides drinking water to the townships of Potter, Shippingport, Hookstown, Hopewell, Independence, Hanover and Aliquippa in Pennsylvania. The department conducts several fundraisers, including antique tractor and dog shows. Located in Aliquippa, Pa., the Raccoon Township Volunteer Fire Department provides a place to hold wedding receptions, graduation parties and anniversary events. It maintains a storage building with gravel flooring, overhead lighting and more than electrical outlets along the perimeter walls. The department allows to store campers, boats, trailers, motorcycles, classic cars and recreational vehicles.
