Philadelphia Community Corps

History

The Philadelphia Community Corps was founded in 2014 to teach underserved citizens to revitalize blighted neighborhoods by deconstructing vacant buildings and salvaging materials for reuse. Since then we've grown our job training program through multiple partnerships and established a building material reuse center in Kensington.

Architectural salvage, reusable building materials, reclaimed lumber and brick! Doors, windows, & more! The Philadelphia Community Corps provides an environmental alternative to demolition. By deconstructing buildings we employ 7 times as many workers, divert 90% of materials for reuse, and earn our clients huge tax deductions for donating the materials we salvage to our 501(c)3! By employing grant-funded trainees for our projects the Philadelphia Community Corps provides individuals with job skills while putting wages back into the communities from which we salvage materials. Through education and advocacy, we can expand the deconstruction industry in the Philadelphia region, creating jobs and benefiting the local economy. By utilizing the deconstruction process, which diverts waste from landfills through the salvage of building materials for reuse and recycling, we can address the city's abandoned housing blight with an environmentally friendly alternative to demolition.
