The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission offers a wide range of services for the residents of the state. It maintains a 24-hours, 365-days a year operations control center that continuously monitors Turnpike activities via an extensive radio system. It handles radio communications for commission personnel, customers, state police, authorized services, and emergency fire and medical services. The center monitors roadway conditions, construction status and weather conditions. It operates service plaza that provide a variety of fast food and full service dining options, fuel, public telephones, rest rooms and other amenities. It also offers Travel Board InfoCenters located in each of the service plazas, that provides travelers with directions, distance, and driving times to various Pennsylvania destinations. The commission is located in Middletown, Pa.
