Pennsylvania Map
Pennsylvania is located in the northeastern United States. It is a full landlocked state bordered by New York to the north, New Jersey to the east, Delaware to the southeast, Maryland to the south, West Virginia to the southwest, Ohio to the west, and Canada and Lake Erie to the northwest.
Pennsylvania is the second state to join the U.S., and also one of the thirteen original founding states. It was founded on December 12th, 1681 as a royal land grant to William Penn. Originally William wanted to name the state Sylvania, from the Latin for woods. However King Charles II instead named it Pennsylvania, to include the Penn's lastname after his father. The famous Declaration of Independence and Constitution were drafted at Independence Hall in Philadelphia. When visiting the state be sure to check out the Independence National Park and the Liberty Bell or Gettysburg National Military Park for a lesson in history, Hershey Park for a sweet treat or Presque Isle State Park to gaze at the scenic beachscapes.
The largest cities on the Pennsylvania map are Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, Scranton, and Allentown.
