Outreach Teen & Family Service

Outreach Teen & Family Services is a community resource for young people and their families, fostering emotionally healthy teens by providing counseling and educational programs in a welcoming and supportive environment. Our general purpose is to provide professional, confidential, affordable counseling to young people ages 12 to 21 and their families. Outreach's origins date back to the mid-to-late 1960's as a grassroots concept with the Mt. Lebanon Community Relations Board. Volunteers and part-time counselors were sent to local parks and high school gathering places to combat problems of young people making poor decisions. The organization was officially formed in 1974 under a grant from the Pennsylvania State Law Enforcement Assistance Administration. In 1981, the organization incorporated as a non-profit agency with the name Outreach South, later changed to Outreach Teen & Family Services. Outreach Teen & Family Services is a non-profit, community based teen counseling agency. Founded in 1974, we provide professional, confidential, affordable counseling to young people ages 12 to 21 and their families. We see clients for a variety of concerns from anger management, family problems and school related issues to depression, anxiety, and drug and alcohol issues. All of our counselors hold a minimum of a Master's Degree. Clients are seen within a short period of time from the initial request for services. Funding for Outreach is provided by the Mt. Lebanon Municipality, Allegheny County, fees, foundations, corporations, school contracts, businesses, civic and religious groups, an annual fundraiser, and individual donations. Outreach turns no one away because of inability to pay. Some counselors are credentialed to accept Highmark or UPMC insurance. In cases of financial hardship, the fees may be partially or wholly subsidized. Outreach Teen & Family Services is located in the business district of Mt. Lebanon in the Stevenson Williams Building at:
