Northampton Boro Municipal Authority Water Department
The Northampton Borough Municipal Authority (NBMA), established in 1940, provides water services to the Boroughs of Northampton and North Catasauqua, as well as Allen Township in Northampton County, and the Borough of Coplay, Whitehall Township, and North Whitehall Township in Lehigh County. With approximately 16,000 service connections and 200 miles of pipeline, NBMA serves an average of 3.5 million gallons of water daily to a population of around 50,000 residents.
NBMA sources its water primarily from the Lehigh River, supplemented by the Spring Mill Reservoir, and addresses community needs by monitoring water quality and offering programs like hydrant flushing and lead testing. The Authority is committed to ensuring safe drinking water and actively engages in efforts to identify and replace lead service lines in accordance with Environmental Protection Agency regulations.
