Legacy is a collaborative mural project located in the Center City neighborhood of Philadelphia, PA. Completed in January 2016, this impressive mural spans nearly 10,000 square feet and explores the efforts of Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass to end slavery. The artwork features hand-laid glass tiles on one side, created by a collaboration of public schools and individuals, while the other side showcases a map of Africa painted by inmate artists at SCI Grateford. The mural also includes a powerful depiction of a middle-aged woman rising from blue flames, symbolizing the resilience of those who survived the Holocaust and the ongoing impact it has on our lives.
