The Lackawanna Historical Society, headquartered at the architectural gem known as the Catlin House, serves as a vital institution in Scranton, Pennsylvania, dedicated to preserving and sharing the region's rich history. This Tudor Revival style residence, originally built in 1912 for financier George H. Catlin, houses a museum, research library, exhibit rooms, and office space, showcasing original furnishings and decor from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Through various programs and initiatives, including the "Every Picture Tells a Story" project and a Covid-19 archive, the society engages the community in exploring local history. The Catlin House, inherited by the society in the mid-20th century, continues to be a hub for educational events and historical research, thanks in part to the support from Lackawanna County for its exterior improvements.
