Remediation is a chemical hazardous waste cleanup company marketing to private industry and government clients. The Dover, Pa., firm evolved from a heavy construction contractor, Johnston Construction Company that was engaged in environmental construction projects. A niche market for the company is the construction of groundwater treatment systems on waste sites. Other work has included building decontamination, contaminated soil cleanups, and tank removals and replacements. In 1989, Remediation was the major cleanup contractor at the former Reading Railroad Terminal, which has been converted into the Philadelphia Convention Center. Its work areas have included Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, West Virginia and New York. The company maintains tank removal and installation certifications in Pennsylvania, Maryland and New Jersey.
