Established in 1945... John Cardullo, the original John of John's, came from Sicily 80-90 years ago. He stared a business that was a lot of businesses. The ice business year round, the oil business in winter and in the summer the water ice business. He put up a stand by the steps of his oil company, now John Cardullo & Sons. Making all natural water ice with his bare hands was one more way to make a living to John Cardullo. In 1953, Cardullo himself built what has become a landmark in South Philadelphia, the first building in all of Philadelphia built for water ice. Just as John Cardullo hand cranked his water ice over 65 years ago; Anthony Cardullo, 3rd generation Owner of uses only fresh fruit he personally selects and squeezes by hand, filtered water and sugar. Came here for a sweet treat. My mother said she saw it on Somebody Feed Phil and she wanted to check it out. I ordered a mango and vanilla water ice. It was delicious! Would recommend!
