Inpatient Cancer Unit

This unit is located on the fifth floor of the Kasych Family Pavilion. In addition to private rooms, the unit offers numerous amenities to ensure that patients have a comfortable place to get well and families have the space they need to support their loved one while they are in the hospital. Some of the amenities include: -All rooms have 55-inch TVs with Bluetooth compatibility so that patients can watch Netflix, movies, etc. by using their own cell phones or laptop computer. -Smart beds are equipped with chargers for personal electronic devices. -The beds have a modern built-in headboard against the wall to create a more “homelike atmosphere.” Each patient room includes a magnetic board for patients to post personal items (cards, pictures, inspirational quotes, etc.). -Each of the private rooms protect patients from outside germs with positive pressure and HEPA filters in the ceiling. In addition, six rooms have positive pressure to protect the patient and negative pressure to protect both staff and other patients from any aerosolized infections. -Other room features include a computer workstation, access to a private bathroom, showers with a foldable chair attached to the wall to offer additional safety and comfort for the patient, and a ceiling lift. One patient room is also lead lined for patients receiving radiation treatment. -A meditation room for patient and colleague use is also available. The meditation room offers comfortable seating, dimmable lighting, aromatherapy, white noise and a small TV for guided meditation. All finishes in the room can be scrubbed to achieve high levels of cleanliness and infection prevention. Infusion Area (Multi-Purpose Satellite)

Available treatments Treatments provided in the multipurpose area include blood transfusions, chemotherapy and biological agents, injections, hydration, Remicade, steroids and antibiotics. Learn more about infusion. Appointments Your appointment is scheduled through your physician’s office. If you need to cancel or change your appointment, please contact your physician’s office. All patients are seen by appointment only. Please arrive no more than 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time. During periods of inclement weather, please call 484-884-5822 for updates on hours of operation. Valet parking Valet parking is available to all patients free of charge. After 4 p.m., your car will be parked near the entrance to the Cancer Center, and your keys will be left at the information desk. If upon arrival a wheelchair is needed, please ask for assistance at the information desk. Visitors Please limit the number of visitors to one per patient at a time. Due to space and safety constraints, this is necessary to provide safe and effective care. A spouse, significant other or family member is invited to stay with you if desired for treatments administered in the multipurpose satellite. One chair is available for a visitor at each treatment station. To provide the safest care, please do not move the visitor chair. Different visitors are encouraged to “take turns” with you. A waiting area with seating is available. Children must be closely supervised at all times by an adult other than the patient. If any potential visitor is experiencing flu-like symptoms, fever, runny nose, sneezing, vomiting, diarrhea or has any type of active infection, do not ask them to visit you. Layout of unit Each of our 24 treatment bays includes one patient chair, one visitor chair and a television. Nutrition area Limited selections of light refreshments are available to patients and visitors during their stay. If you have specific dietary needs, you are welcome to bring your own food. Cold, boxed lunches are available for patients to eat while in the infusion area. ,
