Independence Blue Cross

Founded in 1938, Independence Blue Cross (IBC) is one of the largest health insurers in southeastern Pennsylvania. The agency has approximately 2 million members. It employs more than 9,500 professionals and processes over 32 million claims annually. Independence Blue Cross responds to nearly 6 million customer inquiries. The agency helps to protect its members and providers from fraudulent practices through the Corporate and Financial Investigations Department. It offers Medicare and Medicaid solutions for members, employers and physicians. Independence Blue Cross has partnerships with the Philadelphia Youth Council, Pennsylvania Business Leadership Network, and Customer Service Training Collaborative. The agency s affiliates include AmeriHealth, AmeriHealth Casualty Services and Keystone Mercy Health Plan. It is an independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association.
