Accrotool was founded as Accro Tool Enterprises in 1972. The company was established when Bill Phillips and Van Gruber purchased two used machines and began making dies for manufacturing companies near Pittsburgh. The company s location in a heavy industrial area provided ready markets and access to special services such as heat treating and plating.
