Golden Heights Personal Care Home

Based in Verona, Pa., Longwood at Oakmont has been operational for more than 40 years. One of the leading retirement communities in the United States, it serves more than 2,000 senior citizens annually. Specializing in assisted living, Longwood offers various support solutions, including grooming, dressing, bathing, medication management and personal care. The community features studio, one- and two-room apartments, single cottages, residents center, in-house chapel and a nursery. It also offers transportation services, homemade meals, nutrition counseling, daily housekeeping and laundry services, supervised activities, doctor s clinics, dialysis units, outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation and adult day care services. Additionally, Longwood at Oakmont provides palliative care, intermediate, skilled and subacute medical services, Alzheimer s disease nursing care and orthopedic care. The community is approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities and the the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.

Since the 80th Anniversary of the Bethlen Home in 2001, we've started to compile a database of names and addresses of persons who once lived at the Children's Home. We held reunions in 2001 and 2003. Volunteers provide friendly visits, sometimes staying with the patient while the caregiver is out of the home. They are good listeners who provide emotional and spiritual support, run errands, read to the patient, pray together, help organize family photos and mementos, watch TV together.
