Formerly Taws
History
Philadelphia's Premier Source of Custom Picture Framing. Taws was established in 1897 at 9th and Arch street as an art supply and photography needs store by brothers John and Henry Taws. By 1931 they had outgrown their small location and moved to 1527 Walnut street. In 1971 the Leis Family acquired the business and transformed it into a hub for local artists featuring art supplies, graphic design, framing, and bookbinding. After one more move to 1530 Locust Street, Taws (and former proprietor Dov Leis) finally settled in its current location at 1703 Pine street to focus on our true passion; the art of custom framing.
