We are a totally volunteer, non profit organization. Our goal is to educate people about Forest County through events and artifacts. The museum is housed in a Pre Victorian House which originally belonged to the Robinsons. We like to tell their story as well as that of men and women who made and continue to make Forest County. We are only open Memorial Day through mid October.

Butler County Historical Society

The Butler County Historical Society (BCHS) is dedicated to the collection, preservation, and interpretation of Butler County's rich heritage through documents, artifacts, and historical sites. Established in 1960, the society operates three historic sites, including the Senator Walter Lowrie House Museum, the Little Red School House, and the Cooper Cabin Homestead, while offering educational programs and community outreach events. BCHS began as an informal gathering of history enthusiasts in 1924 and has since evolved into a formal organization recognized as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
