History

Founded in 1931 as the Young People's Interracial Fellowship of Philadelphia, we were incorporated as Fellowship House a decade later. As the city of Philadelphia yearned for greater peace between whites and blacks, Fellowship House was established and provided a safe haven during a time of increased racial tension. Fellowship House, with three other organizations, gives birth to the Fellowship Commission, to have a broader public voice. Our present 120-acre site near Pottstown was purchased in 1951, as a center for training in human relations. Throughout our rich history, we have hosted many influential individuals and groups. We have expanded our outreach to include advocacy for persecuted populations throughout the world. We currently offer diversity & inclusion training for children, adults, and families. In 2012, we partnered with Child Guidance to offer therapeutic programs to families in need.
