History

City Church was started as an initiative of Redeemer City to City and the Philadelphia Presbytery. In 2015 we became a congregation of the RCA. We held our first worship service in the University City neighborhood of West Philadelphia in September 2006. We started with a small group of Philadelphians who wanted a local congregation to which they could invite friends and neighbors, and out of which they could serve the city. We are a congregation that takes the gospel seriously in our worship, spiritual friendship with one another, and through partnering with others for the common good of Philadelphia. In 2017, we launched a second worship site of City Church in the Fairmount neighborhood of Philadelphia. We hope you will join us for worship, community and service to our great city and its amazing people.
