Southwestern Pennsylvania Human Services has been operating for more than 40 years. It offers early intervention, substance abuse evaluation and primary care services. The organization provides a mental health program that includes partial hospitalization, residential programs and clinical services for people with developmental disabilities. It operates SPHS Health Plus, which serves patients through home health programs, including nursing care and medical social work. Southwestern Pennsylvania Human Services also provides physical, occupational and speech therapeutic services. It also offers services to the aging; programs for the homebound; and long-term care activities and assistance to care givers. The organization s homeless assistance program provides transitional and permanent housing and emergency sheltering options. It serves nearly 50,000 people annually. Southwestern Pennsylvania Human Services operates more than 50 service locations throughout southwestern Pennsylvania and employs over 700 clinical professionals.

Turtle Creek Valley MH/MR, Inc. was incorporated at a non-profit 501 C3 through a Model Cities Grant for the purpose of providing mental retardation services in the Turtle Creek Valley. A federal grant in 1980 established the organization as a community mental health center and services expanded to include outpatient, partial hospitalization, residential services and case management. Through the grant funding, individuals and families could receive mental health services regardless of their ability to pay. TCV MH/MR, Inc. expanded services to the Steel Valley communities in 1981 and established regionally Alternatives drug and alcohol treatment services. Funding from the state and federal government through a contract with Allegheny County Department of Human Services continues to allow the Agency to offer services to individuals and families who are uninsured using a sliding fee schedule with fees determined based on individual/family income. In 2005, Turtle Creek Valley MH/MR, Inc. celebrated 35 years of innovative services to the community. Today, the agency offers a full continuum of mental health, intellectual developmental disabilities and alcohol and other drug treatment programs.

Valley HealthCare System, located in Morgantown, W.Va., is a community mental health center that has been providing behavioral health services in West Virginia for more than 30 years. The center deals in the areas of chemical dependency, developmental disabilities and mental health. The chemical dependency section deals with adolescent outpatient, adult outpatient and residential treatment services. The developmental disabilities division serves individuals who meet the federal definition of developmental disability. The federal definition comprise persons who have mental disorders or other severe chronic disabilities that are attributable to a mental or physical disability manifested before the age of 22 and likely to continue indefinitely. The mental health services include crisis, children and adult outpatient services and supported housing.
