Appalachia Intermdte Unit

Appalachia Intermediate Unit 8 is a nonprofit public educational service agency that provides academic programs to more than 70,000 students in kindergarten through grade 12. It governs over 70 nonpublic schools and serves Bedford, Blair, Cambria and Somerset counties in Pennsylvania. The agency offers classes in reading, writing, English, math, social studies, history, music, physical education, computer technology and language arts through its schools. Its schools provide English as a Second Language and English language learners programs. The agency offers development survey, strategic planning, educational assessment, technical assistance, and staff and curriculum development services. It additionally provides academic management, teacher induction and school improvement solutions. Appalachia Intermediate Unit 8 maintains one of its locations in Somerset, Pa.

ARIN Intermediate Unit 28 provides educational support to learners of all ages in Armstrong and Indiana counties in Pennsylvania. It offers more than 50 programs and services to students, parents, teachers, school administrators and school directors. Its programs include educational technology, professional and staff development, curriculum services, school-age programs, preschool and adult education, cooperative projects and statewide initiatives. Its adult education programs include adult basic education, general education development preparation, literacy tutoring, family literacy, institutional programs and English as a second language programs, distance education and computers. It provides crisis prevention and intervention training to students. It also offers online course and media catalog and has a network security information center.

Central Westmoreland Career and Technology Center is a junior college offering educational and career development programs to students in grades nine through 12. The range of programs offered by the college include automotive technology, materials handling, carpentry, commercial arts, career development, computer and information science, and cosmetology. It also offers courses on computer aided drafting, culinary arts, metal fabrication, graphic designing, horticulture, masonry, plumbing, and retail sales and marketing. The institute provides a variety of activities, and interactive clubs for students on blood drives, reading and technology. It operates a short-term adult education course that imparts vocational skill training on career technology. Central Westmoreland Career and Technology Center is located in New Stanton, Pa.
