For more than 35 years The Margaret McCann School of Dance has proven to provide dancers with proper training. Our central goal is to build respect, confidence, imagination, and friendship skills in students while providing a well-rounded dance education. Our students experience the genuine self-esteem that comesfrom the accomplishment of challenging skills under the direction of a positive and encouraging teacher. We are serious about helping each child to become the very best they can be. Every child at our studio learns that hard work produces achievement.Dance classes are excellent for gaining strength, grace, physical fitness and body awareness. Students are given opportunities to perform, learning to express themselves in a confident manner in front of an audience. We instill responsibility, teamwork, excellent work ethics and self discipline in our students. They have fun while working hard. Ballet is our passion and our foundation. Our dancers receive the very finest training from adult professionals using a graded syllabus to insure a safe and logical progression. MMSD dancers are recognized for their lovely, clean technique and are often complimented as having no bad dance habits. In both the Primary (ages 4 & 5) & PreBallet (6 & older) , classes are based on a ballet technique class to prepare student for further dance training and create a foundation of movement. Classes begin with a structured warm up, proceed to simple stretching to warm up the joints, continue with across the floor skills, and finish with a fun dance but one with a purpose. We promote a healthy, non-competitive atmosphere where students are able to learn and grow in a class of their own level. Along with offering the best & newest dance training, our instructors are dedicated to encouraging high morale, self-esteem, responsibility, and perseverance. We present an annual holiday ballet each December. We are the only school in a 4 county area to produce a Nutcracker.
