History

WHO WE ARE... 2014 marks our 45th anniversary of our business serving the York, PA area. In 1969, George W. Ream moved his wife and two children from Milton, PA to York. George started his first business at Ream's Mobil Station located on Carlisle Avenue, across from where Metro Bank and Target are currently located. The Mobil Station closed in 1979. In 1980, George opened Ream's Garage on the corner of Carlisle Avenue and Brougher Lane where Sheetz currently resides. In 1982 George started collecting and selling good used tires from local businesses. This became the beginning of tire sales. Ream's Garage became A-1 Tire in 1984, selling used and new tires. In 1988, George relocated the tire shop to our current location, 3333 West Market Street. In 1994 , George purchased the old Pfaltzgraff building and land, known to some as Pottery Hill, adjacent to the tire shop looking to grow and expand the business.
