2nd Street Learning Center

Established in 1984, Opportunity House, previously known as Reading-Berks Emergency Shelter, is a multiservice organization that offers a range of community-based services and programs for children, adults and families. It maintains an emergency shelter home and provides housing, counseling, goal planning and aftercare services. The organization operates the Second Street Learning Center care and educational services for children. Opportunity House offers transitional and supportive housing services, as well as provides vocational training, resume writing and employment assistance services. Additionally, it offers services for the victims of sexual abuse. The organization also provides classes in health care, nutrition, anger management, and interpersonal and parenting skills development. Opportunity House is located in Reading, Pa.
