The Spirited Canine

History

Most dog trainers can trace their entrance into the profession to a certain challenging dog in their past, and I am no different. After finishing my studies in Illustration, I fell in love with a spotted Australian Cattle Dog mix at an adoption event by my work. I took her home with the intention of fostering, but quickly signed adoption papers before even a week had passed. Emma proved to be an especially challenging dog, with not only an insatiable appetite for activity, but a penchant for intolerant and aggressive behaviors towards dogs, children, and other small critters. I visited trainer after trainer, scoured the internet for information, and worked tirelessly to find answers to her behavior problems. All of this eventually led me to change my career path and start my own dog walking and training company.

Specialties

For us, the ultimate goal is to have fun with our dogs. To get there, we believe in a motivational approach that emphasizes clear communication. We utilize a variety of rewards in our training including food, toys, and play. We also believe in finding healthy outlets for our dogs natural behaviors, and appropriate exercise as an important accompaniment to any training program.
