Sylvia M. Peterson-Perry, MD

Emily Arbuckle, PA-C, is a physician assistant specializing in family medicine with Providence Medical Group-North Portland. Emily enjoys building relationships with patients and their families. She emphasizes prevention and evidence-based care, and believes that “health care should be patient centered, holistic and compassionate.” Her three priorities with her patients, she says, are: “To create a safe space for open and honest communication; to provide guidance and information while respecting patients’ autonomy; and to partner with patients to create care plans that work best for them as individuals.” Emily completed her bachelor’s degree and physician assistant training at Wichita State University.

Carol Opheikens, FNP-C, is a family nurse practitioner with Providence Medical Group-North Portland Family Medical Clinic. Nursing is her lifelong calling – “I never considered anything else,” she says. An active listener and engaged educator, she enjoys working in partnership with her patients to help them define, understand and meet their health goals. Carol holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the Linfield School of Nursing, and master’s degrees in nursing and in public health from the University of Cincinnati. She completed her internship at Providence Plaza Family Medicine. She also has specialized training in infectious diseases. In her free time, she is learning to speak Spanish.

Dr, Heather L. Whetstone is a board-certified family practice physician in Portland, OR. While she provides care for people of all ages and genders, she has special interests in women’s health care (including prenatal care), pediatrics, and the treatment of opioid use disorder.
