History
The Sportsman's Tavern was opened in sometime of 1947 at the time it was a local watering hole for dairy farmers, loggers and fishermen. Having one of the only telephones in the area people from the valley would call for information on weather and how the fishing was. It didn't have any real food until after 1970 the owner installed a pizza oven and served heated sandwiches and frozen pizza and his wife's homemade potato salad. They sold the Tavern business to another couple who added a kitchen in the early 1980's. They created a menu featuring homemade Mexican food, hamburgers and Broasted chicken, still on the menu today. In August of 1989, Rob Royster his mother and his step-father purchased the business and property. They renamed the business, sadly Rob's mother passed away a year and a half later. Rob bought out his step-father's share and continues to run the business today. He added micro brews and liquor and expanded the menu to include fresh local seafood.

Disclaimer: I did not expect to like this as much as I did. I figured "fish and chips, meh, probably oil-soaked, gummy, tasteless" because it's a local dive-bar kind of thing. I was wrong....
Wonderful place to walk to from the beach. Great food, friendly and quick service. Get the wings :)
