The Seaside Aquarium isn't a massive attraction like many more famous aquariums. It is a small aquarium in the small town of Seaside and is nestled in amongst other buildings. Originally a swimming pool, the privately owned historic aquarium is now known for the interactive attractions, including getting to feed the seals and a newly introduced touch tank.

Best and worst times to go to Seaside Aquarium
Located in Seaside, a popular Oregon Coast town, the Seaside Aquarium gets especially popular when kids have days off from school and when the town hosts various events and festivals. Going at off times means that you have a better chance of getting up close and personal with the attractions. Be careful not to visit for too late in the day, as closing hours vary.

Must see/do at Seaside Aquarium
Before heading in to the main building, stop and see the seals and maybe even treat them to a snack. Once inside, check out the old-timey looking exhibits that give a glimpse of life under the sea before you head to the touch tank to experience the strange sea creatures in the palm of your hand.

Admission to Seaside Aquarium
Admission rates to Seaside Aquarium vary, with standard adult admissions being the most expensive, but discounts are offered for kids, seniors, large families and other group rates. Kids under five are free.

Parking at Seaside Aquarium
The Seaside Aquarium offers a small free parking lot directly behind the building. However, it is small and awkward, so many visitors prefer to use some of the city's other lots and street parking and make the short trek to the aquarium.

Public Transportation to Seaside Aquarium
The Northwest POINT bus runs between Portland and many of the Oregon Coast towns, including Seaside. Tickets and more information can be found at Amtrak or Greyhound, as well as on the Oregon POINT website.

Food at Seaside Aquarium
The small aquarium doesn't offer food, other than fish food for the seals. Nearby, in the center of town, you can find stands selling fair food as well as small cafes, restaurants and other eateries. However, if you have small kids or are hungry, be sure to eat or bring along your own snack to eat along the Promenade, where the aquarium is located.

Insider tips for Seaside Aquarium
The Seaside Aquarium doesn't offer public restrooms, but there are some along the promenade, so plan accordingly if you have small children. The aquarium is small and doesn't take much time to get through, so spend the day strolling on the boardwalk, exploring the town or clamming and crabbing on the beaches.

This aquarium is small, but it's great for children. They have some good exhibits, like feeding the seals for a small fee.
