Then she completed a residency in pediatrics at Advocate Children’s Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois. Before opening her private practice, Dr. Joy had a wide range of experience, including serving as a pediatrician in child maltreatment evaluations, working in an eating disorder outpatient program, and studying pediatric integrative medicine with the field’s founder, Kathi Kemper, MD. At Orchid Pediatrics, children and adolescents receive compassionate care for the full scope of behavioral and developmental disorders, including anxiety, depression, autism, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Dr. Joy also specializes in behavioral concerns, sleep problems, and developmental delay. Having grown up between the United States and Mexico, Dr. Joy speaks fluent Spanish. Her bicultural experience instilled a deep value for diversity, equity, and inclusion. She sums up her practice style with this quote from Albert Camus: “Don’t walk in front of me; I may not follow.
