A fully accredited prevention intervention research center, Oregon Social Learning Center has been operational for more than 45 years. Formerly known as the Oregon Research Institute, it is funded by the National Institute of Mental Health. Oregon Social Learning Center deals in the designing and evaluation of intervention programs for adolescents, families and communities. The center develops parent education and skills training programs, child and family assessment techniques, identifies peer group social interaction patterns, aggressive behavior and delinquency, and implements family interaction and child development studies. Additionally, it develops various preventive intervention studies in the areas of foster care, at-risk youth, female problems, substance abuse, depression, sexual risk behavior, social competency, domestic violence and the breakdown of romantic relationships. A nonprofit organization, it employs more than 250 personnel that include research scientists, clinical psychologists, family interventionists, parent educators, statisticians, computer programmers, observers, interviewers and support staff.
