History
Port staff, guided by an elected Board of Commissioners, managed harbor maintenance in support of the export of timber products. In the mid-1980s, the Board was restructured from elected positions to a Governor-appointed, Senate-confirmed body and the agency was renamed the Oregon International Port of Coos Bay. The Port is the largest deep-draft coastal harbor between San Francisco Bay and Puget Sound. It is Oregon's second busiest maritime commerce center after the Port of Portland.
Specialties
The Oregon International Port of Coos Bay actively seeks ways to promote the use of its deep-water port to enhance the economy and quality of life.
