OMG What a great place to hike and swim. We went with a big group so we had to break up into two groups. The parking lot is small and they will turn people away if it is full. Luck we made it...

Opal Creek Ancient Forest Center, a nonprofit organization rooted in the historic mining town of Jawbone Flats, has dedicated itself to transforming curiosity into knowledge through immersive outdoor experiences since 1988. Situated in one of the last low-elevation old-growth forests in the Pacific Northwest, the center fosters a community of environmental advocates with its transformative wilderness expeditions.
Despite the setbacks caused by the Beachie Creek fire in 2020, which affected both the Opal Creek Wilderness and Jawbone Flats, the center continues to promote its mission of education and support for eco-consciousness. Operating under special use permits with the U.S. Forest Service, Opal Creek combines ecological education with volunteer opportunities, enhancing the community's commitment to preserving these natural spaces.

Beautiful place !!! I went early to bet the crowd I had the water all to myself for about 3 hours it was amazing oregon is beautiful! Must go !

Great place to hike and swim! Make sure you pack accordingly if you're going on one of the longer hikes but honestly it's a good place to come early so you can savor every moment.

Love to hike and swim in this area. The hike is beautiful and usually many people. Parking is a *****. If you break the rules up here you will end up with a ticket. Best to arrive before 11:00 am...
