About Northwest Nature Shop The Northwest Nature Shop is a family owned and operated natural history store in Ashland, Oregon. We are a source for products that help adults and children learn about nature and science, including Natural history books and maps, bird feeding products and gifts for the home and garden. Our store is a fun place to visit and play with the science toys and gifts or see the latest technology in squirrel-proof feeders. The Northwest Nature Shop was founded in 1984. Before that the owners Mike and Kathy Uhtoff founded Nature Store at Portland ( OR ) Audubon, where Mike was director. We have a long history in selling nature products and feel this is reflected in our product knowledge and service. We are a company that upholds the highest social and economic values. We buy from smaller independent companies and domestically produced products preferentially. We are an active member of our community providing field trips, classes and slide shows. The Northwest Nature Shop pledges 15% of profits or 2% of total sales ( whichever is larger ) to go to educational, environmental and community organizations. The world of the Internet is a bit new for us. We are launching this site in April 2004. We hope to provide great products that are not available to many people. However we encourage people to first support their local nature or bird shop. These stores are a great source of local knowledge, and independent businesses enrich communities both culturally and economically.
