HistoryOur practice developed out of a deep respect for sustainable and evidence-based midwifery practice. We started attending births together in 2018 and quickly realized that we wanted to offer more Oregon families the option to birth in their own environment - to stay wild. Wilder Midwifery was born out of this desire and we are so excited to provide home-based healthcare for expecting families in the Willamette Valley and Oregon Coast.SpecialtiesWe specialize in homebirth, lactation services, and education surrounding the childbearing year and fertility. Our practice is LGBTQ+ positive, bi-lingual (Spanish + English), and we offer in-home consultations for people considering midwifery care.

HistoryShannon Forrestall and Judy Abel created the concept of Pelvic Wellness Center in the year 2007. At that time, both Shannon and Judy were working for large companies practicing physical therapy with a focus on treating patients with pelvic dysfunction issues. Both had the desire to fulfill the need in Lane County for a small independent practice that provides patient-focused care in a private, comfortable setting. HistoryI have been working with families for over 10 years after my own difficulties feeding my baby led me down the path to learn more about lactation. My early days as a breastfeeding mom were fraught with tears and insecurity. I lacked proper professional support and couldn't find resources for accurate information. In an effort to learn more, I read every lactation (breastfeeding) book I could get my hands on and talked with other parents. I realized that, sadly, my story was not unique. I was able work through my challenges with luck and perseverance but many of my friends did not. I could see that years later the hurt from the loss of this relationship still stung. This was the catalyst which created my career working with breastfeeding families.SpecialtiesI recognize that feeding your baby is an intimate and important relationship which facilitates bonding and lifelong nutrition for both baby and parent. I respect your decisions and am here to help you along your personal path. As a lactation counselor, I have more than 9 years' experience working with families and over 10 years of personal breastfeeding experience with my own children! My goals are your goals. I seek to support you by offering evidence based information to guide your choices. I welcome all kinds of families into my practice and am pleased to serve LGBTQ families.
