History

Kaya was established in 2000 by Northwest native Greg Martin. Greg learned construction skills and gained hands-on building experience that eventually led him to earning degrees in Political Science and Education from the University of Portland. Greg spent two years working in Massachusetts for two non-profit organizations and spent his free time renovating an 1870's home. He worked in construction management at a large commercial and residential contractor in Seattle managing multi-million dollar projects. He created and managed his own division, secured large contracts with companies such as Puget Sound Energy and managed commercial projects around the metropolitan Seattle area. When building Kaya Construction, Greg created his team with an eye towards hiring passionate carpenters and trade workers who wanted to enhance or renovate homes and buildings in a way that also fostered community improvement and development.
