The International School, founded in 1990, provides enrichment and academic lessons to students in prekindergarten through grade six. The school s math lessons include decimals, fractions, written and oral problems, numbers, and the concepts of plane geometry and measurement. Its English lessons focus on reading comprehension and writing in expository, narratives, and imaginative and persuasive formats. In addition, classes in poems, speeches, and literary fiction and nonfiction are also offered. The school also provides classes in science, art, music and physical education. The school organizes a range of after-school programs, including Chinese and Spanish language classes, Latin dance lessons, a chess club and Chinese calligraphy programs. The International School is located in Portland, Ore.
